DoorBot

DoorBot is conceptual device that will allow you to see and talk with visitors to your house via your phone or tablet...but at the pricey start up cost, it's questionable whether or not the device will ever reach store shelves...

DoorBot is a conceptual surveillance device which will allow users to see and speak with whoever's at your front door anytime and anywhere. The device is an app-enabled, WiFi-connected video doorbell. We've all seen similar ideas out in the market already, but the "weather resistant," aluminum enclosure makes it one of the best looking concepts we've seen yet.

The system is set to work in unison with Lockitron (pictured above), a smartphone controlled key-less door lock that was recently crowd-funded but is still yet to hit the shelves. The DoorBot app once connected with Lockitron will allow you to welcome visitors inside your home with the tap of your iOS or Android Device's app screen.

The DoorBot installs with four screws, has a sleek weather resistant aluminum enclosure, and runs of four AA batteries for a whole year. There is still no word on the quality of the camera, but it's infrared-equipped, so you'll be able to see who's there at night. Lastly, the actual doorbell button is wrapped with an LED light which just makes it irresistible for visitors to press.

Edison Junior, the device's creator, hopes to raise $250,000 in 45 days in order to take DoorBot from the drawing board and onto store shelves. If your willing to take the gamble as a project backer, you'll have to pay $169 to secure a pre-order of the device. $319 to bundle it with Lockitron.

We're told that we'll see a working prototype in the flesh at CES, but until then you can get the full sales pitch here in the demo video:
