A New Patent Filing Service

The new First-to-File provision of the America Inventions Act leads the way for Christie Street to create a new cost-effective way to file patents...

Last Friday, Christie Street launched a new patent filing service coinciding with the First-to-File provision of the America Invents Act going into effect this past Saturday. The new service provides inventors with a simple, cost-effective way to file patents.

Under the new First-to-File legislation, if two similar patent applications are pending at the USPTO, the first to file will receive the patent - rather than the first to invent. This means that once the law goes into effect, inventors will be under intense pressure to file patent applications in a timely manner.

With an understanding of the increased urgency for inventors to file patents, Christie Street is streamlining the complicated patent process. Christie Street’s patent specialists, working with the prestigious law firm White & Williams LLP, will provide a unique service that drafts and files quality patent applications for inventors. While the patent-filing process can normally cost inventors anywhere from $11,000 to $15,000, inventors who utilize Christie Street’s services can expect to pay just $8,000 on average for a top-notch patent application.

Launched in December 2012 with the goal of supporting and protecting inventors, Christie Street is known for its successful product development platform, which VentureBeat has called the “Ivy League” of crowdfunded projects. In February the platform successfully funded its first product, DoorBot (pictured above), surpassing its $250,000 funding goal with a whopping $395,000. Christie Street’s unique, hands-on approach to crowdfunding and bringing innovative products to fruition is now further supported by its new patent service.
