Japan's Ocean Dome
No sunburns, no sharks, and sanitized sand?
What's not to like?
Check out the world's largest indoor beach...
Personally, I hate the beach.
Me and the sun have never been on good terms with each other. Plus coarse, dirty sand seems to get everywhere. And there is always the possibility of some large man-eating creature swimming inches below your dangling feet...
The solution?
1,200 miles south of Tokyo in Miyazaki, on Japan's southernmost Kyushy Island, is the world's biggest indoor beach. Here the water is a clean, clear blue, waves are perfectly timed, and no man-eating animals lurk beneath the water.
The large dome inside of which the man made beach sits measures 300 x 100 meters (984 x 328 feet).
The dome itself is the world's largest retractable roof.
The heated ocean sends 13,500 tons of salt-free water across 600 tons of polished marble chips that comprise a long shoreline. The whole structure stands as the world's largest indoor beach.
It even has its own marble sand and a volcano that spits fake flames every hour.
The water and sand of the massive indoor beach are sanitized frequently. Fake parrots ruffle their feathers and squawk at tourists from within a fake rainforest.
Why bother with all the troubles of a real beach when you can enjoy the comforts of a large indoor beach?
