Closer Look at an Industrial Wind Turbine
More likely than not you've probably seen one of these massive Industrial Wind Turbines. The question is, exactly how big is one of these?
Many of the new Turbines will reach a staggering height of four hundred feet. The steel tower is anchored down to the earth with a platform of more than a thousand tons of cement and steel rebar, 30 to 50 feet across and anywhere from 6 to 30 feet deep. The circumference of the turbines blades is the same as the width of a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet, an incredible 70 meter diameter.
So then how much energy does one of these remarkable feet of engineering produce? A single one of these can produce an average of 3,285,000 kWh a year, which is enough energy to power 332 households.
